The updated processes announced in February 2023 would provide qualified overseas students access to two further years of post-study employment rights. By bringing the students’ workweek up from 40 to 48 hours every fortnight, the Australian government has added another feather to its crown. Currently, it is possible to stay in Australia for five to six years after completing a course. No other nation in the world offers the chance to stay. The student will be eligible to apply for his or her PR if the student completes 18 months of full-time coursework during the stay-back period.

For qualifying bachelor’s graduates, the employment rights will be extended from two to four years, for master’s graduates from three to five years, and for research/Ph.D. graduates from four to six years for major cities in Australia.

About 226 courses in medical and nursing, professional health, diagnostic, allied health, teaching, engineering, ICT, agricultural, and other fields are among the list of qualifications that are acceptable, which will be evaluated and assessed on a yearly basis.

As a result, even if a course is taken off the list, students will still be eligible for the extension upon graduation, according to the government’s statement. Future modifications to the qualifying list will not have an influence on students beginning eligible courses. Latest News Update click here.
